Advocate heartworm treatment for dogs is a liquid insecticide that is applied to the back of the neck of animals in a spot-on form. It’s a yellow-brown solution containing imidacloprid and moxidectin that treats dogs and cats for parasites. In order to give accurate doses to pets of different sizes, Advocate is available in several concentrations. The treatment comes in white pipettes in packets of 3 or 6, manufactured by Bayer.
Advocate treats and prevents fleas in dogs and can also be used as part of a routine regimen for flea allergic dermatitis (FAD). Additionally, Advocate is used to treat ear mites and prevent heartworm, roundworm, lungworm, and whipworm parasites in dogs.

Usually once a month or every four weeks, Advocate is applied topically to the back of the neck. Apply it between the shoulder blades, where your pet cannot lick it off.
