Quality Dog Grooming Supplies Online

Whether your dog has short fur or a coat that requires frequent maintenance, grooming is essential for keeping them looking their best. You can also check your dog's skin thoroughly for abnormalities or problems during grooming. Bathing and brushing your dog can also strengthen your bond with your pet. As grooming appointments add up over time, regular grooming can become a costly expense but there are things you can do at home to extend your pup's time between grooming appointments and keep them looking and smelling good.

Equipments You Need For Dog Grooming

Shampoo and Washes

Dog owners have to choose from a wide variety of shampoos and conditioners on the market today, so choosing the right ones can be difficult. If you are treating a skin condition, your first consideration when choosing a shampoo and conditioner is - is that condition something you need to treat? If so, your selection will be considerably narrowed down.

Secondly, if you are treating a skin condition, what kind of condition am I treating? For example, if your dog has an allergy, you will need a shampoo that won't further aggravate it. We have divided them easily into medicated and non-medicated shampoos, making it easy for you to start with the right product. Specific skin conditions can be treated with medicated shampoos.

A conditioner isn't always necessary for dogs, but it can help treat their skin condition, or just leave their fur feeling extra silky soft. Avoid bathing them too often as this can dry out their skin. It might be a good idea to get your dog checked out at the vet if your dog still smells after washing. They might be causing an infection that needs to be checked out.

Brush or Comb

Regardless of the length or type of fur your dog has, a quality brush or comb is a necessity for all dog owners. Dr Carl offers the GripSoft brushes in every size and style at a competitive price. A few brushes can be used to remove dead hair or undercoat from dogs with an undercoat or long fur. You can then use a fine comb to remove all knots from the dog. Your dog may not enjoy brushing at first, so reward them whenever they allow you to brush them with a treat or praise to encourage them to see grooming as a positive activity. Brushing your dog without your dog's consent will only reinforce his fear and could lead to negative behaviours.

Nail Clippers

Dog owners who have not been able to successfully clip their own dogs' nails tend to prefer leaving nail clipping to the vet or groomer. We have a variety of nail clippers available at Dr Carl at affordable prices. Clipping your pet’s nails is just like when we clip our own nails. Avoid cutting too close to the quick at the base of the nail to avoid bleeding. Clip at the tip of the nail straight across if you are concerned about cutting too far. If you are wary of cutting too far, trim off small bits at a time. Using positive reinforcement, such as treats and praise, for every time they allow you to clip their nails, can help them become more comfortable with having them trimmed, just like a dog that does not enjoy brushing.

Other Dog Grooming Supplies

We stock selected sizes of Wahl clipper blades and grooming scissors, if you would like to take things a step further, and learn to groom your dog yourself. Grooming time will be easier with various sprays that make brushing and combing easier, leaving your dog with a sleek, shiny coat that smells amazing when you're done!

It is a fact that owning a pet means that there is fur all over your house and car. We here at Dr Carl stock both lint rollers and refills so you can keep the fur to a minimum! In between baths, grooming wipes are a great addition to clean up small messes and refresh smelly fur on your dog.
