Behaviour and Training Products for Cats

The same emotions that affect humans affect cats, such as fear, pleasure, hunger, anxiety, and frustration. Some kitty behaviours are considered undesirable and can negatively impact both the owner and their pet's quality of life. Many of these behaviours can be corrected, even if some cannot be eliminated.

Since cats are quite mysterious creatures, it can be difficult to figure out why they behave as they do. Each cat is unique, and not every behaviour can be explained by a single reason.

Scratching

Cats scratch to mark their territory. It is possible to redirect your cat's behaviour if it scratches objects you don't want it to by providing scratching posts and other toys. Cats can also be deterred from clawing items such as couches and chairs with repellent sprays. By combining this with dried catnip or catnip spray on items you want the cat to scratch, you can usually prevent most unwanted scratching issues. Consider trying a post made from a different material, such as carpet, rope, or corrugated cardboard, if your cat is not using your current scratching post.

Urinary Problems

Cats can also suffer from urinary issues. Infections, inflammations, bladder stones, stress, or tumours may cause a cat to spray, urinate outside its box, or be unable to urinate. Cat conflicts and changes in the house (such as construction, family member departures, new family members) may also exacerbate litter box problems. Cats that are stressed due to conflict or changes in routine can benefit from products such as Feliway and Zylkene. In the event that accidents do occur, we have products like UrineOff, UrineFree, and Piss Off that can be used to clean the area properly. To protect areas from damage, you can also purchase absorbent training pads.

Aggression

Aggressive behaviour in cats, whether towards people or other pets, is a serious problem. A cat's aggression can be caused by stress, anxiety, medical conditions that cause pain, hormonal changes, or other factors. Before treating aggression in cats, you should consult your veterinarian to rule out any medical causes. Identifying triggers for aggressive behaviour is sometimes possible. If the trigger is obvious and can be removed, this is the easiest way to resolve aggression. In the event that a trigger cannot be identified, both you and your cat will be forced to learn how to live with it.
